Welcome to Pre-Kindergarten with Miss Morgan!
Feel free to reach out any time: firstname.lastname@example.org
Hello all! I’m Morgan Joyce, and I am so honored and excited to be teaching at the Mount this year! I am a first year teacher, but I have lots of experience working in childcare from age 6 weeks through early elementary! I just graduated from Saint Michael’s College in December 2019 with my BA in Psychology, and I am currently attending SNHU online working towards getting my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling! My ultimate goal is to work with young children doing play therapy, which is exactly what it sounds like – engaging in theraputic processes through play! I am absolutely loving teaching, and am having so much fun learning alongside my class every day! In my freetime, I love to do crafts, play with my dogs and my bunnies, and spend time outdoors! 🙂
what’s new for the month of October:
These first few months, we are working on recognizing and writing all of the letters in the alphabet – both capital and lowercase! We also talk about the different sounds that each letter makes, and words that start with that letter as we write them out! We are also working on writing our numbers, and counting to 20+! Being creative is something else that we really enjoy doing together, and we do lots of art projects that help to develop fine motor skills while still encouraging creativity! We continue to work on our sight words, as well! Another important facet of our time at school is our socio-emotional learning! We are working on strengthinging the skills they will need to be successful students, like raising our hands, staying on task, and following directions! We are also working on skills that make us a kind friend to others, such as sharing, expressing our feelings verbally, and probem solving. Overall, the goal is to foster a sense of creativity and a love of learning, while preparing them to move on to Kindergarten next fall! 🙂
For the month of October, our themes will be centered around fall, pumpkins, Halloween, and emotions! We will do lots of different math, science, and reading/writing activities that go along with our themes too!
